This site lists courses for the Southern Region, which includes Life Support Training in Wall, Bayshore Medical Center, Riverview Medical Center, and Jersey Shore Univ. Medical Center, Ocean Univ. Medical Center, Southern Ocean Medical Center, and Carrier Clinic. 

Welcome to the HMH Life Support Training Center at Jersey Shore University Medical Center. We provide pre-hospital training for both HMH and NON-HMH participants. This training is designed for EMTs, Paramedics, Nurses, and other healthcare professionals.

Are you looking for an ACLS course? We have a blended learning option available for you! 

HeartCode ACLS Online is a blended learning program that combines an online course with a hands-on skills session to prepare students for Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification:
  • Online course
    A self-directed, personalized learning path that uses adaptive learning technology. Students learn at their own pace and complete a cognitive portion of the course.
     
  • Skills session
    A hands-on session with an AHA instructor or on a simulation station. Students practice and test their skills in a realistic clinical scenario. 
To earn an AHA ACLS Provider eCard, students must complete both the online course and the skills session. The eCard is valid for two years.
 
The course costs $250. Please call 732-776-4470 to set up your skills session with our office. 

NOTE: A current BLS certification is required before you can take this course. 

The Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) provider course is a two-day course, designed to train healthcare professionals in managing patients with acute cardiac illnesses using the most current methods available. Information will be reviewed and practice time will be made available to enhance proficiency in the following modalities:


Adjuncts for management of airway control and ventilation
Dysrhythmia recognition and cardiac monitoring
Synchronized cardioversion and defibrillation
Pharmacology for cardiac care
Management of acute MI and stroke
Management of bradycardic and tachycardic patients

NOTE: This is a TWO-DAY course.   You must attend both days.

Course Completion Requirements To receive a course completion card, the student must • attend and participate in the entire course, • demonstrate proficiency in CPR skills, pass required skills tests, and • pass required written tests.

Your course completion card will come as an eCard (electronic card).  This has the same validity as a paper card.

 The American Heart Association strongly promotes knowledge and proficiency in all AHA courses and has developed instructional materials for this purpose. ACLS Renewal Course requires PRE-COURSE WORK. MUST READ BELOW.

The ACLS course builds on the foundation of lifesaving Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers skills, emphasizing the importance of continuous, high-quality CPR. This advanced course for experienced Critical Care Providers highlights the importance of team dynamics and communication, systems of care, and immediate post-cardiac arrest care. ACLS also covers airway management and related pharmacology. 

NOTE:  This 1 day renewal course requires completion of Pre-Course work online.  This advanced course is for experienced Critical Care Providers only.

Your course completion card will come as an eCard (electronic card).  This has the same validity as a paper card.

The Advanced Trauma Life Support® (ATLS®) program teaches a systematic and concise approach to the care of trauma patients by providing a safe and reliable method for immediate evaluation and treatment. The program focuses on treating the greatest threat to life first. It demonstrates how to assess a patient’s condition, resuscitate and stabilize the patient, and determine if their needs exceed a facility’s capacity.
 
Course Objectives:
Upon completion of the ATLS program, the provider will be able to: 
• Demonstrate the concepts and principles of the primary and secondary patient assessments. 
• Establish management priorities in a trauma situation. 
• Initiate primary and secondary management necessary for the emergency management of acute life-threatening conditions promptly. 
 
Accreditation:
The American College of Surgeons is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.  
 
Types of Courses:
ATLS Full Courses and Hybrid Courses are available for those taking ATLS for the first time or those renewing their ATLS Certification. 
 
ATLS Renewal Courses are available for those who are RENEWING their ATLS certification. You must be eligible within 6 months of your ATLS certification expiration.

    The course cost is $130.00.   A deposit of $30 is required for the online portion. The balance is due upon completion of the skills check.  
     
     
     

COURSE DESCRIPTION

The Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers Classroom Course is designed to equip healthcare professionals with the ability to recognize life-threatening emergencies, provide CPR, use an AED, and perform choking relief in a safe, timely, and effective manner.

This course is essential for healthcare professionals who need to perform CPR and other lifesaving skills in both in-hospital and out-of-hospital settings.

This course is recomended for Registered Nurses. 

The Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) is a continuing education program intended for nurses who care for the acutely ill and injured pediatric patients. This course introduces and reinforces the fundamentals of an organized, standardized and prioritized approach to the resuscitation and care of the pediatric patients. The ENPC provides participants the opportunity to strengthen and develop their pediatric emergency nursing skills while expanding their personal growth by collaborating with nurses from a variety of practice settings. ENPC brings together participants from various emergency department settings as well as nurses working in other specialties of nursing. 

The two-day Provider Course is intended for initial training, and participants receive a certificate valid for four years upon successful completion.

Day 1 begins at 8am-5:30pm, Day 2 8am-4:00pm. Lunch will be an hour, food is not provided. 

The ENPC Provider course is approved for continuing education contact hours (CECH’s)

Course Content: The Pediatric Patient, Initial Assessment and Triage, Respiratory Distrress and Failure, Cardiovascular Emergencies, Medical Emergencies, Child Matreatment, Toxicologic Emergencies, Pediatric Trauma, Crisis Intervention, The Neonate, Stabilization and Transport. 

If this course is required of your position, manager approval is required.  If not required you will be obligated to make the $300 payment if employeed by HMHN and not employeed please pay the $400 fee. 

Cancellation fee: $100.00 when requested more than 30 days before the course. No refunds after 30 days prior for the course date. 

 

EMT Refresher Series through the William G. Voelkel EMT Training Program.

Class will begin promptly at 8:30am and conclude at 5:30pm with a 1 hour lunch break. 8 Core CEU's will be offered for this course. A written post test will be given.

HeartCode® BLS, ACLS, and PALS are American Heart Association (AHA) online blended courses that use virtual simulations for training.

Access to the online modules will be granted within one business day of registration.

TO COMPLETE YOUR RENEWAL:

  • Pass the online cognitive portion before scheduling your skills check.

  • Register for the skills check—do not enroll in an in-person CPR class.

Each skills check (BLS, ACLS, or PALS) takes about 15 minutes and can be completed with an AHA instructor or via the VAM system. If registering for multiple disciplines, you can schedule one skills check to cover them all.

⚠ Important: Course fees (excluding material costs) are not AHA income.

This two-day course teaches Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) according to the standards of the American Heart Association. This course is designed to develop the skills of physicians, nurses, paramedics, and technicians who are regularly involved in emergency cardiac care delivery. The course features discussions and practical skill stations which help develop skills necessary for the delivery of emergency cardiac care.

You must supply a copy of your:
• Current BLS for Healthcare Provider card
• If you have an Current PALS Provider card (for Renewals)
You must also be proficient in EKG interpretation.

PALS Renewal Course requires PRE-COURSE WORK. MUST READ BELOW.

This one-day course is for those individuals who need to renew their PALS certification. The renewal course includes discussion and practical skill stations designed to review all topics pertaining to pediatric emergency cardiac care. This class is strictly for those who have completed a full PALS course in the past. If you are unsuccessful in a renewal session, you must taken the 2 day initial course. There is no opportunity to retake a Renewal course.

NOTE:  This 1 day renewal course requires completion of Pre-Course work online.  This advanced course is for experienced Critical Care Providers only.  You must provide proof of completion of the pre-course work at least one day prior to the course date.

Pre-requisites
You must supply a copy of your:
• Current BLS for Healthcare Provider card
• Current PALS Provider card (for Renewals)

This course is recomended for Registered Nurses. 

The Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) is a continuing education program intended for nurses who care for the acutely-injured trauma patients. This course intorduces and reinforces the fundamentals of an organized, standarized, prioritized approach to the resuscitation and care of trauma patients. 

Day 1 begins at 8am-5:30pm, Day 2 8am-4:00pm. Lunch will be an hour, food is not provided. 

The TNCC Provider course is approved for continuing education contact hours (CECH's)

TNCC, 9th Edition, features reshaped and revised pre-course learning activities to include modules on communication in the ED and patients in shock; the addition of a chapter on care of LGBTQ+ trauma patients; and more Trauma Nursing Process teaching scenarios which create additional opportunities to apply course content into simulated patient exercises.
